Rhymney Valley Foodbank was formed in 2012 following local research that identified the need for food aid assistance in North Caerphilly. From humble beginnings at St Dingat’s Church, New Tredegar, the Foodbank has grown into one of the busiest Foodbanks in South Wales.
The Foodbank works closely with and is supported by Islwyn Ministry Area, our parent Charity.
Our volunteer team are largely from Churches across the Ministry Area.
Our main base is located at St Peter’s Church, Aberbargoed, and we have 3 other Hubs in New Tredegar, Phillipstown and Rhymney. Over the past few years, St Peter’s Church has become a community hub, offering food aid, information, support and onward referrals for holistic care. We provide opportunities for people to access our service for varied reasons, including tackling isolation and loneliness, a warm welcome (cup of tea) and advice and support.
Our hub in Rhymney located at the Furniture Revival operates every Tuesday.
Our hub in Aberbargoed located at St Peter’s Church operates every Wednesday.
Our hub in New Tredegar operates every Thursday.
Our pop-up hub in Phillipstown operates the first Monday of the month.
